The Geraldine & Kenneth Burnett Fund

Supporting the Community They Loved

The Geraldine and Kenneth Burnett Fund was established as a vehicle for the estate of the Burnett family to exercise their wishes to support worthy charities in the Maple Ridge community and beyond. The Fund has made an initial contribution of $250,000 to the Maple Ridge Community Foundation and has allocated significant additional funding for contributions to worthy charities. While wanting to be there to support everyone in need in the community, the Burnetts had a particular desire to support children and youth initiatives.

A Life Shared

Geraldine and Kenneth were both born in the Canadian prairies and moved west as young children with their families in the 1930s. After growing up in Vancouver, they met and married in 1958. They moved to the Lynn Valley neighbourhood of North Vancouver in 1960 where they settled and raised their son Greg, who grew up to become a prominent businessman in the city and still resides on the North Shore.

After both retiring from public service careers, they embarked on many travel adventures around the world and finally settled in Maple Ridge in 1992. They spent winters in Arizona until they were no longer able to travel in their 80s.

They loved Maple Ridge. Taking long walks in the parks. Frequenting the shops and restaurants. And of course testing their luck at the local casino. After their passing, they wanted their estate to give back to the community that gave them so much happiness and peace in their retirement and sunset years.
